Experienced Corporate Attorney – Portland or Seattle

Schwabe is seeking an experienced lawyer looking to join a well-established business transactions department with a sophisticated corporate practice serving domestic and international clients in challenging transactions. The ideal candidate will have: 

 

  • Minimum of four years of experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions, and combination of experience with private placements, credit agreements, entity formations, emerging companies, securities, and general corporate law

  • Experience serving clients in at least one of our seven key industries

  • Ability to manage complex transactions independently, in addition to having an ability and willingness to train and manage the work of junior associates

  • Excellent legal skills and reputation

  • Strong client service ethics

  • Entrepreneurial and growth mindset

  • Will consider placement of this position in any of the firm’s seven offices; flexible work-from-home/work-from-office options available

  • The pay range for this position is $165,000 - $225,000, depending on job skills and experience. The position is also eligible for discretionary merit bonus consideration at the end of each calendar year. Land Use Associate (3+ years) – Portland

Schwabe currently has an opening for a full-time land use lawyer to help support our Land Use practice as a part of the Real Estate & Natural Resources Department. The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least 3+ years of experience with land use matters, including:
    • Drafting land use applications
    • Appearance at public hearings
    • Research and review of developmental feasibility
    • Appellate briefing
  • Practice experience in real estate and/or environmental law matters is a plus, and could be considered in lieu of the requisite land use experience. If requested, candidates may also be considered for a position in more than one of these practice areas. 

  • Excellent academic credentials and professional references, as well as solid research, analysis, writing, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ownership of projects and willingness to work in a team-oriented setting, but with significant independence.

  • Strong client service ethics.

  • Strong communication, self-initiative, and time management skills.

  • Interest in business development in the real estate/construction and/or natural resources industry

  • Oregon State Bar admission or eligibility for reciprocity (required)

  • The pay range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000, depending on job skills and legal practice experience relevant to the position. The position is also eligible for discretionary merit bonus consideration at the end of each calendar year.   • 3+ years experience with commercial, timber, and agriculture real estate transactions, including

  • Purchase and sale agreements

  • Real estate due diligence, including title review

  • Leasing

  • Real estate finance transactions

  • Development-related contracts

  • Strong interest in engaging in real estate and/or natural resource industry groups and business development

  • Excellent academic credentials and professional references

  • Demonstrated ownership of projects and willingness to work in a collaborative and team setting, but with significant independence

  •  A track record demonstrating exemplary client service, organizational skills, and team work

  • Excellent skills in legal research, analysis, writing, and in communication

  • Oregon State Bar Admission or eligibility for immediate reciprocity preferred
